The final results of the referendum on independence are announced in Catalonia

In Catalonia, the final results of the referendum on independence, consisted of October 1 and recognized by the central authority of Spain, are announced.

2 million 44 thousand 38 people out of 2 million 286 thousand 217 voted - that is 90.18 percent spoke out of Spanish. 7.83 percent voted against (177 547 people). Empty ballots lowered 1.98 percent of the plebiscite participants into the urn. The turnout amounted to almost 43 percent of approximately 5 million 300 thousand having the right to vote, the government of the autonomous region said.

Residents of Catalonia, opposing the department, mainly boycotted a referendum.

On Friday, neutral Switzerland expressed his readiness to act as an intermediary in negotiations between Madrid and Barcelona.

Earlier on Friday, Madrid apologized for the excessively strict actions of the police on October 1, when about a thousand people were injured in Catalonia.

The police blocked many polling stations, ballots and urns for voting were withdrawn. In Barcelona, special forces used rubber bullets to disperse demonstrations.

October 9 Catalonia Parliament intends to discuss the issue of declaring independence, despite the ban on the Constitutional Court of Spain.
