Medical worker faces trial over patient's death after abortion

According to the press service of the regional IC of the Russian Federation, in July-August 2016, a doctor from a medical institution – LLC “Zdorovye”, located in the regional center, improperly provided medical care to a Tomsk woman, which, through negligence, resulted in the patient’s death from hemorrhagic shock caused by massive blood loss due to incomplete medical abortion.

During the investigation, the investigator interrogated the necessary witnesses, examined documents, conducted forensic and computer-technical examinations, and collected other evidence sufficient to bring charges. The Department of Health of the Tomsk Region submitted a proposal to take measures to eliminate the circumstances that contributed to the commission of the crime.

Currently, the criminal investigation has been completed and, together with the indictment approved by the prosecutor, it has been sent to court.
