Vyacheslav Ivanov died

An outstanding Russian encyclopedist scientist, linguist, academician Vyacheslav Ivanov died. He was 88 years old. Ivanova was reported about the death of Journalist Masha Slonim.

Ivanov headed the Institute of World Culture of the Moscow State University, the Russian Anthropological School of the Russian State University and the Library of Foreign Literature, was a professor at the University of California, a member of the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is the author of numerous works on historical and comparative linguistics, psycholinguistics, semiotics, mathematical linguistics, literary criticism, history of culture, anthropology.

Vyacheslav Ivanov - son of the writer Vsevolod Ivanov. He graduated from the philological faculty of Moscow State University, then taught. In 1958, he was fired from the university for his speech in defense of Boris Pasternak. Ivanov worked for many years at the Institute of Slavic Studies and Balkanism.
