Died linguist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philology Vyacheslav Ivanov. This was reported by journalist Masha Slonim. Ivanov was 88 years old.
- Vyacheslav Ivanov is the son of the writer Vsevolod Ivanov. He was born in 1929. After graduating from the philological faculty of Moscow State University, Vyacheslav Ivanov began teaching at the university, and then for almost 30 years worked at the Institute of Slavic and Balkan Studies.
- In 1989, Vyacheslav Ivanov became director of the Library of Foreign Literature, later he headed the Institute of World Culture of Moscow State University, and since 2003 he worked as director of the Russian Anthropological School of the Russian State Humanitarian University.
- Vyacheslav Ivanov was a member of the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has written more than a thousand scientific papers in linguistics, cultural history, literary criticism and anthropology.
