Jean Rocher was born in 1930 in Paris, studied at the city conservatory of Nantes and at the Higher National Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Paris, where his classmates were Jean-Paul Belmondo, Claude Rish and Jean-Pierre Maryel.

In 1953, he began to perform as part of the troupe of Jean-Pierre Granier and Olivier Yussino, subsequently played dozens of roles on the scenes of Parisian theaters, including the National People's Theater, the Chate theater and the Elysee Theater. In addition, he worked a lot on television, was engaged in dubbing film and television films, recorded audiobooks.
