In June 2017, the doctor of Henderson in Nevada prescribed Steven Paddok Valium - a sedative drug that is taken by millions of people in the United States. Paddok complained about anxious condition, the doctor gave him a recipe for 50 tablets. On the same day, Paddok bought a Valium in the city of Rino, where he had a house.
According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, the recipe for Valium Paddoku was written out in 2016. Valium causes dependence, abuse of this drug can lead to the manifestation of aggression. Whether Paddok continued to take Valium when he planned the massacre in Las Vegas, and whether he had been abused with this drug, it has not yet been established.
In 2013, Paddok said that he was taking Valium, at the trial against Cosmopolitan casino in Las Vegas. In 2011, he slipped in this gambling institution and wanted to sue compensation. The testimony of Paddok in this case managed to get acquainted with CNN. He said that he annually paid a doctor who wrote him a valium, a fixed amount, but did not explain how often he consumes this drug.
As follows from these testimonies, Paddok was a jerking person who, in most cases, took his own alcohol with him to the casino, because he did not want to pay the waiters to the waiters. He called himself the largest player in video poker in the world and said that he could put a million dollars overnight. "This is a lot of money?" His lawyer asked. “No, not at all,” he answered. Earlier, Paddok's brother Eric said that Stephen's condition could be about two million dollars.
The fact that Paddok in recent months before the crime was not in the best condition is evidenced by both his close and completely unfamiliar people with whom he communicated during this period.
In July, according to the Associated Press, Paddok chose a car in a store in Rino and complained to the seller for a living. He said that he had depression, and that he was unhappy, including in his personal life. “He did not smile, it was unpleasant to talk to him,” says the seller. What exactly the Peddok's problems are, he did not tell a stranger in detail. According to the seller, Paddok was unshaven and looked untidy.
The main witness in the case of the mass murder in Las Vegas is the Philippine Maril Danley, with whom Paddok maintained relations for the past few years. They met in one of the casinos in Rino, where Danley worked in the hall for high bets; By that time, the woman was married, but in 2015 she divorced. At the time of the massacre, she was not in the United States - she left for the Philippines. Paddok transferred 100 thousand dollars to the Philippines and advised to buy a house; Danley thought he wanted to break with her.
After the attack in Las Vegas, the woman returned to the United States and testifies. She said that Paddok was a caring and calm person from whom she could not expect anything like that. At the same time, she noted that Stephen could “lie in bed and moan“ Oh God ”” - and made the impression of a man with a mental disorder.
On October 8, police officers who participated in the assault on Paddok numbers for the first time told how the operation took place. In which room the shooter settled, it was possible to find out the unarmed guard of the Mandalay Bay hotel. He reacted to the signal of the door malfunction and climbed to the floor where Paddok was located. The man immediately began to shoot at the guard through the door and wounded him. As it became known earlier, the man surrounded the number with a network of surveillance cameras and, apparently, could follow what was happening around.
When the police reached the 32th floor of the hotel, on which the arrow was located, they found that Paddok had blocked one of the doors leading to the floor from the stairs, using bolts and a metal plate. One of the special forces had a crowbar with them, and the door managed to quickly hack. The operation was attended not only by SWAT special forces, but also, for example, a police officer Dave Newton, who at that time coached his police dog and responded to a message about shooting.
Seeing the wires from the cameras, the police first decided that the hotel corridor was mined. The walls and door of the room were sprayed by bullets, but Paddok by the time the SWAT fighters blew up the door of his room was already dead.
“[The room was] so many weapons, so many shops. Mountains and mountains of stores are everywhere. <...> The rifles lay everywhere. There were also different monitors and other electronic equipment. The number looked like a weapon store, ”Dav Newton said on CBS.
According to the participant in the assault, one of the rifles was placed on the tripod and directed at the room door. Earlier, the Las Vegas police claimed that Paddok did not initially plan to commit suicide.
