The former head of the district, who left Kuibyshev without drinking water, received a suspended sentence

The former head of the Kuibyshev region, Viktor Funk, was sentenced to four years in prison for abuse of office. The court decided that as a result of its actions, the population of Kuibyshev, numbering more than 42 thousand, is still not provided with clean drinking water, and material damage in the amount of 94 million rubles has not been compensated.

The Kuibyshevsky District Court on October 9 issued a verdict in the case of a 60-year-old former official. He was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power by the head of a local self-government body), the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Novosibirsk region reported.

The former head of the district was accused of exceeding his official position powers in the planning and construction of a pumping and filtering station in Kuibyshev. According to investigators, in the period from 2010 to 2012, as part of the implementation regional target program "Providing the population of the Novosibirsk region with drinking water for 2008-2012”. Funk transferred more than 211 million rubles from the budget to JSC "GazTransCom", established by the region, but did not ensure efficient spending budgetary funds, did not control the progress, quality and proper acceptance of work, considered the court following the Investigative Committee.

In December 2016, Funk was suspended from his position and placed under house arrest. He filed for resignation. On March 23, 2017, the district council granted the application.

The court sentenced the ex-head to four years in prison (conditionally with a probationary period of four years) and deprived him of the right to hold leadership positions in government bodies for two years. The verdict of the court has not entered into force.
