Allan Chumak, president of the Russian Regional Public Fund for the Study of Social and Anomal Phenomena, died, in the late 1980s-early 1990s, became famous in the USSR and Russia as a psychic and healer. This became known on the night of October 10 from the recording on the social network Facebook, which TV presenter Dmitry Gordon made on his page.

Gordon called himself a friend of Chumak, and himself - an outstanding healer, writer, philosopher and a wonderful person. Later, the fact of the death of 82-year-old Alan Chumak was confirmed by his widow, according to the Moscow Radio Says Moscow .

The news quickly spread to the media and caused a variety of responses. Information about the death of Chumak was the reason for diverse comments and on social networks, where statements appeared from executed sincere regret to aggressive, with accusations of charlatanism and fraud.

The reasons for the popularity of Allan Chumak, at the request of Polit.ru, was reflected in the psychologist Maria Polyakova. According to her assessment, in a certain period in our country, a surge in interest in this area was generally observed, and he was connected with the fact that people required some new support.

“In the late 80s and 90s, various kinds of healers and psychics were very popular. The reasons for this were due to time.

Firstly, a powerful collapse of ideals was observed, people were looking for some kind of support, faith in something-this equally explains the increased interest at that time both in religion and the “miracle workers”. Secondly, the conditions themselves allowed different sects, psychics, etc., since before that they could not afford to open their activities.

Many people played at the confusion of the population at that time. You can add that people have always been interested in all supernatural, people have the need for faith for “miracles”, since this gives them a sense of security from reality (incurable diseases, death, etc.), ”explained Maria Polyakova.

Allan Chumak is the author of the books “Healing Power within you”, “Those who believe in a miracle” and “Existrapens Book. Practical techniques for healing yourself and your loved ones. ” By education, he was a journalist (graduated from the journalism department of Moscow State University, since 1965 he worked on television).

However, he gained real fame in the 1980-1990s, when he began to conduct television healing sessions, “transmitting power” to water and various creams exhibited in front of his instructions. Chumak claimed that the water and creams “charged” by its energy acquire the healing properties and that their use can facilitate the symptoms of many diseases.

During the “charging” of water, he sat silently in television, sometimes moving his lips. At the same time, his sessions were quite popular for some time: they did not demand any efforts from the viewers, moreover, there were always people who said that they were noted by improving their condition. Doctors explained this result with a placebo effect.

When the Ministry of Health of Russia issued an order that limits non -traditional methods of treatment, the activities of the Chumak in the country were suspended. As the newspaper Kommersant recalls, at that time it began to show interest in politics: in 2000 he ran for the State Duma from the Samara region. However, he did not go to the deputies, gained only 3% of the vote.
