In recent weeks, they gave me food for sad thoughts, thoughts that scientists as a social group not only suffer from the same vices as broad masses, but more than others are prone to such terrible sin as pride. Consider yourself the most intelligent, to believe it is possible to arrog the best to teach everyone around, including the best people of our country - alas, for our brother it is a common thing.

All this was very clearly manifested in ours, colleagues, behavior after the election of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The elections were held in an honest and competitive environment, and became a competition of many worthy candidates. And let the academicians defeated the most optimal candidate due to the inertness and conservatism, the authorities accepted him. Not only did she accept,-reacted with honor and respect, she really careed.

The next day after the election of Alexander Sergeyev, the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, found in his intense schedule a window to meet him, talked and handed a signed decree on his appointment! Immediately Alexander Mikhailovich was represented by members of the Russian government.

Yesterday, almost the disgraced Academy was warmed by the rays of the administrative sun. Who now recalls that less than a year ago, the former head of the Russian Academy of Sciences was reported as a boy at a meeting of the Council on Science and Education because of the officials who had penetrated into the Russian Academy of Sciences?! Or that in March this year, the elections of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences were disrupted ...

How should sensible and responsible people behave in such a situation? That's right, with gratitude and humility. We must pay tribute to the new president of the Academy, so he behaved, being admitted to the national leader. But the masses of scientists are not such, oh, they are not at all!

Like unreasonable children, they took the lack of flogging as a sign, which can be pierced further. They fell into an immense pride, imagining themselves Cain and Manfredami. And then with a vengeance, they began to undermine the roots of the oak, whose fruits were feeding - to attack the government in other words. Well, if not for the entire government entirely, then on its individual members.

Moreover, this is not about the notes of the authorities, no, everything is much worse: attacks are carried out on behalf of a legalized and organized group of comrades. Namely: on behalf of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission on History. In early October, this council spoke in favor of the deprivation of the Minister of Culture of Vladimir Medinsky degree of Doctor of Sciences.

The rods in the council of the Lord decided that you see that the dissertation of the Minister “Problems of objectivity in the coverage of Russian history of the second half of the XV - XVII centuries” is not scientific work. And they don’t like the methodology, because Vladimir Rostislavovich, when considering and evaluating historical events, puts at the forefront of the national interests of Russia (they say, this approach is not scientific). But such and only such an approach should confess every respectable and law -abiding citizen of Russia, not only the minister. And the actual mistakes in his dissertation are found ... as if the greatest minds were not mistaken!

No, colleagues, all this is a frank slope, an undermining for our foundations. And pay attention to: they are not attacked by some frank retrograde, they attack the minister not alien to their completely alien liberalism. After all, it was he, Vladimir Rostislavovich, who is guarding the freedom of creative expression, protecting the film “Matilda” from the near -religious obscurantists, individual pretty deputies of the Duma and even the head of the Chechen Republic. Kind you!

At one time, one great statesman described this kind of reckless behavior with the words “dizziness from success”. Does not bring this to good. With dissertations, you know, you can go far, very far, dear colleagues, if you delve well. One minister will not be limited. And, believe me, you should not go there!

Religious people sometimes say that pride is one of the worst sins, because it was precisely because of pride that Satan rebelled. There is a truth in this. It is necessary, colleagues, to know your place firmly and not to bite the giving hand. Then everything will be fine, and we will receive gingerbread, and not the blow of the whip.
