Russian security forces conducted searches of Crimean Tatars, some of them were detained

In Bakhchisarai, on October 11, Russian security forces searched several houses of Crimean Tatars. Later, they detained civil activists and people who came to the places where searches are being carried out, reports Krym.ru . Realities".

Zair Smedlyaev, an activist of the Crimean Tatar national movement , wrote on Facebook that the searches took place in the homes of civil activists Timur Ibragimov, Memet Belyalov, Server Zekeryaev, Seyran Saliyev, Suleyman Asanov and Ernest Ametov.

UPD. 16:00 The detainees are suspected of links with Hizb-ut-Tahrir: “They drew up a report on the detention in the FSB building, my client refused to be interrogated. Art. 205.5 part 2 participation in the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir,” explained Mammet Mambetov, the lawyer of one of the detainees, Seyran Saliyev. Other detainees are also being investigated and interrogated, Mambetov said.

Suleyman Asanov is accused of organizing terrorist activities (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code), Timur Ibragimov, Memet Belyalov, Server Zekeryaev, Seyran Saliev and Ernest Ametov of participating in terrorist activities” (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).

UPD. 18:55 two Crimean Tatars were detained : Nuri Ibragimov (October village) and Maksud Ablyakimov (Sudak). They are located in police department No. 2 "Kievskiy" of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Simferopol.

Dilyaver Memetov, coordinator of the Crimean Solidarity association , said that Mustafayev's brother and father, as well as Ernest Ibragimov, Eldar Asanov and Rudem Nedzhiev, were "taken away" from Marlen Mustafayev's house.

According to the publication, the security forces detained at least 8 people who came to the places of searches to provide support. Among them are five people who were at the house of Marlen Asanov, and three people at the house of Seyran Saliev. The detainees were to be taken to the local police station.

The deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Nariman Dzhelalov , wrote that searches were carried out at those Crimean Tatars “who openly demonstrated their civic position, supported people during similar searches, and participated in the work of the Crimean Solidarity.”

On the same day, the press service of the FSB department for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol stated that the department’s employees stopped the activities of the Bakhchisaray cell of the Hizb-ut-Tahrir organization in Crimea. The report clarified that a case had been opened against six members of the cell under Parts 1 and 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (organization and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization).

The Islamist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir has been declared a terrorist organization by the decision of the Supreme Court. However, a number of experts from human rights organizations believe that there are no grounds for this - members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were not seen to be involved in the commission or preparation of terrorist attacks. In recent years, many cases have been opened in different regions of Russia under the article on the activities of a terrorist organization, in which people are actually accused of terrorism solely on the basis of “party activities” (meetings, reading literature).
