The Russian geoinformation service 2GIS deleted from the cards of the addresses of the campaign headquarters of the opposition Alexei Navalny. Users complained to the disappearance of the Vladimir Staff addresses and tightening with the posting address of Tomsk.
On October 11, a 2GIS representative explained on Twitter that the service is “outside the politics” and is not participating in the election campaigns. The company emphasized that the election headquarters are not placed on the maps, “so that the service is not used for political purposes” and added that they show the branches of all officially registered parties.
In response, the users cited as an example the public receptions “United Russia” and the chairman of the Party of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev indicated on the 2GIS maps, and also began to refuse the services of the service and delete the appropriate application.
In early March, it was reported that 2gis refused to register Navalny’s headquarters in Novosibirsk. The head of the headquarters Sergey Boyko in the service explained that Navalny is not a representative of the authorities or the current deputy, so he cannot have a registered headquarters or reception. According to RBC in the press service of 2GIS, "in this case, there was no information confirming the fact of registration of a political party, a public organization."
Navalny in December last year announced his intention to participate in the 2018 presidential election. However, in February 2017, the court in Kirov sentenced Navalny to the age of five conditionally in the Kirovles case, which deprives the opposition to run.
On October 7, mass protest promotions were held in several dozen Russian cities, the participants of which demanded political competition and the admission of Navalny to the presidential election. The policy itself on October 2 was arrested for 20 days for a repeated violation of the rules for holding rallies.
