Virgin billionaire Richard Branson invested in Hyperloop One. After rebranding, the company will be called Virgin Hyperloop One, writes CNBC.

Branson will enter the board of directors of the company, the amount of investment is not specified. According to the TV channel, in the previous month the company attracted $ 85 million, the Virgin Group investments are included in this amount.

According to RBC, a passenger unit will be created as part of the project, which will develop decisions for the transportation of passengers and goods.

“After I visited the Hyperloop One testing ground in Nevada and met with the team, I was convinced that the Hyperloop One and its high -class team will undoubtedly change the transportation industry,” Branson said.

In his opinion, the construction of Hyperloop will be cheaper than railways.

Now Hyperloop is testing the super -speed transportation system. It is planned that shuttles will be able to reach a speed of up to 750 miles per hour (1200 kilometers per hour). Hyperloop will consist of pipes built above the ground, and shuttles with passengers and cargo will move along them. Transport will not need to overcome air resistance due to the fact that Forvacuum will be created in the pipes.

Branson is estimated at $ 5 billion. Virgin Group, including Virgin Atlantic, the Virgin Rail Group railway company, which operates in the UK, as well as Virgin Galactic. The latter promises to start sending tourists into space in 2018.
