Amazon Studios refused to film the series with Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore, which was produced by the Weinstein brothers' company

Amazon Studios has announced the end of a series starring Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore, which was to be produced in collaboration with The Weinstein Company.

The decision was made in connection with numerous allegations of sexual harassment against one of the founders of The Weinstein Company, Harvey Weinstein; the project's cancellation was announced shortly after Amazon Studios suspended CEO Roy Price over similar allegations.

Robert de Niro, Julianne Moore and project author, director David O. Russell, supported Amazon's decision in a joint statement. "In light of the latest news and out of respect for those affected, we have decided together that it is best not to proceed with the show," the statement said.

The project was supposed to be the first series with the participation of Robert de Niro, writes Variety.

Amazon Studios also announced that it would continue work on Matthew Weiner's The Romanovs series, albeit without The Weinstein Company. The Weinstein company did not have time to transfer money for the production of projects, writes Deadline.
