Maria Sharapova won her first tournament after disqualification

Russian Maria Sharapova won the first tournament of the WTA series after disqualification due to the use of meldonium.

In the final of the tournament in Tianjin (China), Sharapova defeated Arina Sobolenko from Belarus with a score of 7:5, 7:6 (10:8).

The victory at the tournament in Tianjin, according to TASS , will allow Sharapova to rise to 57th place in the ranking of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). The updated rating will be published on Monday, October 16th. Now the Russian woman takes the 86th place in the WTA ranking.

• Maria Sharapova was suspended from June 2016 to April 2017 after she admitted to taking the illegal drug meldonium (Mildronate).
• After the end of the disqualification, Sharapova took part in one Grand Slam tournament - the US Open, where she reached the 1/8 finals.
• The last time Sharapova won the WTA tournament was in May 2015 in Rome.
