In August-September, at least nine militants of Wagner’s private military company were killed in Syria, reported by the Sonflict Intelligence Team, which studies the study of military conflicts, citing messages about the deaths of mercenaries in the media and social networks.
The group published the data of the dead militants: this is a 24-year-old native of Troitsk, the Chelyabinsk region Vitaly Belyaev, 26-year-old resident of Kazan Azat Nurullin, 30-year-old Alexei Gladyshev (call sign "Ural") from Perm, Ivan Ilchevsky from the city of Volzhsky Volgograd Region, Nizhny Novgorod Igor Krizhovsky, Savely Sukhov, 43-year-old residents Member of the Prochrevsky bike club "Night Wolves" Alexei Yaroshevich, a 28-year-old Cossack from Magnitogorsk Chelyabinsk region with the call sign "Kalych" (the name is unknown), as well as a resident of Michurinsk, the Tambov region named Dmitry.
At least three dead previously participated in Russian aggression against Ukraine: Belyaev was awarded the Ministry of Defense Medal "For the Return of the Crimea", Gladyshev and Sukhov fought in the Donbass. It is known that Sukhov in 2014-2015 was part of the battalion of the pro-Russian fighters of Sparta. As it can be assumed, Kalych from Magnitogorsk also went to the east of Ukraine: a message about his death appeared in the city VK group of the Union of Volunteers of Donbass.
Meanwhile, the former “Minister of Defense” of the DPR Igor Girkin, citing the former mercenary of the PMC of Wagner, who fought in Syria, claims that up to 60 mercenaries of the company and about 20 personnel Russian troops were killed in the last week of September and early October.
As noted, the killed Wagnerians are usually buried two to four weeks after death, and their relatives try to hide what happened, the profiles of mercenaries in social networks are removed.
CIT experts connect the sharp increase in the losses of the militants of the private army of Wagner with the active attack of Russian troops in the position of the Islamic State in Syria in recent months.
On October 3, IG reported the captivity of two mercenaries of the PMC Wagner - Roman Zabolnetny and Grigory Tsurkan in Syria. Presumably they were captured on September 22 in the village of Esh-Shul in the west of Muhafazi Deir ez-Zor. Both militants in the past were contracting soldiers, then fought in eastern Ukraine. Tsurkan was in Syria back in 2012 or 2013 - a few years before Russia's open intervention in the Syrian War - as part of the "Slavic Corps", the precursor of PMC Wagner. On October 5, it became known that the Islamists most likely executed both militants . On October 10, the IG published a video of the overrogry of the carrier during captivity. “I have information ... about weapons, I worked with the map. I was not there, in Deir ez-Zor. We went with information, went to the headquarters with information,” can be made out of his words.
