The Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Yaroslavl Region began checking reports that in one of the boarding schools for children with developmental disabilities, the director “as a punishment for violating discipline” forced the pupils to drink their own urine.
“The issue of initiating a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power) is being decided,” the Investigative Committee said.
The incident in the boarding school on October 16 was reported , in particular, by the regional website 76.ru, citing Mikhail Krupin, Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Yaroslavl Region. Krupin reported that at a boarding school for deaf children, the principal forced three inmates to drink their own urine as punishment for urinating in a water tank.
According to Krupin, a call about this was received on the hotline, and "the indicated facts were confirmed." “The materials were sent to the regional department of education for making a personnel decision, as well as to the prosecutor’s office of the Yaroslavl region,” he said.
There is no authorized message about the incident on the official website. In which boarding school this happened, it is not officially reported. According to the Yarnews website, this is Boarding School No. 7.
