A volunteer from Navalny’s headquarters in Perm was arrested for 10 days for a failed propaganda walk.

On October 16, the Sverdlovsky District Court of Perm arrested Pavel Novichenko, a volunteer at the headquarters of politician Alexei Navalny, for 10 days for holding an uncoordinated event two days earlier. The activist told OVD-Info about this.

Three volunteers, including Pavel Novichenko, and staff member Natalia Vavilova were detained on 14 October. Then Navalny's supporters came to the Permenergo building to hold a campaign walk, since the picket had not been approved for them. The police were already waiting for them at the scene.

Novichenko and Vavilova were left at police station No. 7 in the Sverdlovsk region until the trial. There, administrative protocols were drawn up against them under part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for holding an unapproved public event.

“There were three of us in the cell when there were only two places. One detainee slept on the floor, and then they slept in turns,” Novichenko said about his stay in the police department. According to him, Natalya Vavilova was escorted to court by men, not women, as required by law.

The hearing in the case of Vavilova for the failed walk with the newspapers was postponed to October 25. Volunteer Andrei Fedotov, who was detained on October 14, was given 35 hours of community service for the action on October 7. The court fined the minor, who was distributing on October 16, 5,000 rubles.

• On October 12, Novichenko was already detained for participating in the October 7 rally and campaigning before it. The court fined him 30,000 rubles. Vavilova was detained on October 8, she was fined 10,000 rubles.
