The Krasnodar Regional Court refused to satisfy the complaint of Ruslan Gvashev, the former head of the Council of Elders of the Circassians-Shapsugs, who was fined 10,000 rubles for a memorial prayer service at the Tulip Tree. about this . writes The "Caucasian Knot"
Zashita Gvasheva provided the court with the conclusion of the Institute for Humanitarian Research from Kabardino-Balkaria. The document notes that the Tulip Tree is a place of worship, and the day of memory and sorrow of the Adygs who suffered during the Caucasian War is a ritual event that does not need to be coordinated with the authorities. Despite this, the regional court left the decision of the Lazarevsky District Court of Sochi unchanged.
Gvashev himself did not come to court due to poor health: since October 5, he is leaving the hunger strike, which he has been conducting since September 11 against a fine for a commemorative action.
Earlier it became known that Circassian activist Shamsudin Neguch was detained at the entrance to Krasnodar because his car was allegedly wanted. He believes that in this way they do not want to admit him to the trial in the case of a memorial service. The "Caucasian Knot" reported that most of Gvashev's supporters were unable to attend the meeting.
An administrative protocol was drawn up against Ruslan Gvashev under Part 1 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation by the organizer of a public event of the established procedure for organizing or holding an action) after a prayer service on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow for the victims of the Caucasian War, which took place on May 21 at the Tulip Tree in the village of Golovinka. At the event, Gvashev delivered a speech in the Adyghe language, in which he “urged us to remember our ancestors.”
On June 2, the court fined Gvashev 10 thousand rubles, and in August the Krasnodar Regional Court canceled the fine and sent the case for a new trial.
On August 30, the Lazarevsky District Court of Sochi, having considered the case of the Circassian activist for the second time, again imposed a fine of 10,000 rubles. Gvashev said that the court did not take into account the testimony of the local village Golovinka, who drew up the protocol. The law enforcement officer stated that there was no offense, and “the chief and the curator from the FSB ordered him to punish Gvashev.”
On October 5, at the checkpoint of the traffic police "Magri" on the outskirts of Sochi, the police stopped an ambulance that was taking a Circassian activist to a session of the regional court on his own complaint. Unknown persons persuaded Gvashev to get out of the ambulance and go with them to the hospital.
