The soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Nikolai Okhotnikov died

On Monday, October 16, the soloist of the Mariinsky Theater, People's Artist of the USSR, Nikolai Petrovich Okhotnikov died, the theater press service said. The singer was 80 years old.

Nikolai Petrovich fell into the troupe of the Kirov (Mariinsky) theater in 1971. His bass can be heard on the records of the Russian opera made in the 1990s with Valery Gergiev: “Khovanshchin”, “The Legend of the invisible City of Kitezh and the Virgin Fevronia”, “War and Peace”. For the role of Gremin in Evgenia Onegin, hunters received the State Prize.

Nikolai Petrovich was also a professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. His students - Alexander Morozov, Vladimir Feluer, Yuri Vlasov, Vitaly Yankovsky - perform on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater.
