About a hundred people gathered in front of the Basmanny Court building on Kalanchevskaya Street. The meeting was supposed to begin at 15:15, and already an hour before the start, the bailiffs stopped letting the audience into the building - too many people came; Only journalists could go to court, guarantors of the accused (Medusa published a list of guarantors ) and defendants in other cases considered in court that day. Right at the entrance to the Basmanny Court, clearly hinting at the repression of the 1930s, several people with portraits of Russian artists-Osip Mandelstam, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Alexander Solzhenitsyn and others lined up.

“I have a portrait of [writer Isaac] Babel,” said Polina Nemirovskaya, who was standing with Solzhenitsyn’s portrait, “but I don’t get it, because I am afraid of jokes about the Jews.”

Only one or two journalists got into the hall - it turned out to be so small that the guarantors of the accused, among whom were publisher Irina Prokhorova, TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, actress and philanthropist Chulpan Khamatova, occupied all space for the listeners.

Near the hall in two floors were operators, journalists, supporters of Serebrennikov. When the director led, the audience expectedly applauded and began to scream “Cyril!”; He smiled and showed his fingers the “Victory” sign.

In the center of the tiny hall, four accused and seven of their lawyers were sitting behind two defiled desks. Nina Maslyaeva, who previously concluded a deal with the investigation (and after that was transferred from a pre -trial detention center under house arrest), hid her eyes behind sunglasses. Behind the third desk, investigator Alexander Lavrov and the prosecutor sat down, who supported him throughout the following meeting.

Investigator Lavrov made the first petition and asked the court to introduce new materials to the case - interrogation protocols and reports, in which, in particular, there were testimonies of the “witnesses of Zhirikova and Filimonova”, which announced the “Black Cash desk”, which was conducted by the “Seventh Studio”. These materials in the courts in this case were not reported before. The investigation also asked to attach the testimony of the witness Larisa Voikina, an employee of the personnel department of the Seventh Studio. She claimed that on behalf of the producer Ekaterina Voronova (her investigator called the “confidant of Serebrennikov”) destroyed the company's financial statements. Voronova in the case of Kirill Serebrennikov for the first time appeared in August 2017 - the investigation believes that it was with her help that the money allocated for the multiple of the performance “Sleep on a Summer Night” was stolen. She is on the wanted list.

Malobrodsky, Itin and Serebrennikov objected to the introduction of these materials. The director called these testimonies “absurd things”, which he hears for the first time. Lawyers of all three supported their principals, indicating that new materials were declared much later than allows the Code of Criminal Procedure and what you can simply get acquainted with them normally. Itina’s lawyer separately noted that in the documents of investigators there is no evidence of the need to extend his client, and they belong to the indictment. Nina Maslyaeva with a lawyer left a decision at the discretion of the court.

After hearing the arguments of the parties, Judge Karpov gave lawyers half an hour to get acquainted with the 170-page document. When the break ended, he asked Malobrodsky if he managed to read the materials.

“For half an hour I looked at about thirty pages,” he said in a quiet calm voice. - During this time, it is impossible to study so much complex material.

- How much do you need? The judge asked.

- A few hours, I suppose.

- A few hours? I give you another ten minutes! - said Karpov with pressure.

However, after the objections of the lawyers of Malobrodsky, Itina and Serebrennikov, he took pity, announcing a break for another 15 minutes.

The next half an hour were devoted to the rather emotional speeches of the lawyers Serebrennikov, Itin and Malobrodsky, who warmly objected to this request. “Friendship of the investigation and Maslyaeva is well known and is the reason why it is lying,” said Ksenia Karpinskaya, a lawyer of Malobrodsky. “Of course, I am against continuing this friendship in such bright forms.” As a result, Karpov rejected the petition.

The lawyers of Itin, Malobrodsky and Serebrennikov began to read out lists of guarantors - deputies, senators, actors, directors, writers and writers, leaders of large and small theaters. The hall laughed twice - when one of Serebrennikov’s lawyers mentioned that the director Joseph Kobzon consisted in the Public Council under the Investigative Committee, and when he noted as a guarantor of Oximiron - explaining to those present that he was “musician Miron Fedorov”. Nobody began to entrust Nina Maslyaev.

After listening to lawyers, investigator Lavrov began to justify the need to extend the preventive measures. It turned out from his words that if you let go of the accused, then Malobrodsky, being an Israeli citizen, will run away from the country, silverniks who have an apartment in Berlin, too, and Itin will certainly enter with the first two in the conspiracy to press the witnesses and destroy the evidence.

Three defendants and their lawyers expressed their objections for more than an hour. In particular, they noted that they could not escape, since their passports were taken by investigators. Malobrodsky noted that 42 years work in the theater and cannot just take and leave: “In the end, I recently bought a refrigerator and a washing machine - this indicates that I am not going to run away.” His lawyer asked for the release of the former Gogol Center general director on bail of 10 million rubles. Itin said that he “has no means and reasons to hide from the investigation”; His lawyer petitioned the cancellation of a preventive measure. Kirill Serebrennikov said he was not going to flee, because it "would mean a guilty of guilt."

“I feel the absolute truth. I always came at the first call of investigators, even if I was in another city. I am interested in truth, that she triumphantly, so that everything is manifested. I want to get these monstrous, absolutely absurd accusations from me and my colleagues, ”said Serebrennikov.

His lawyer asked to release the director on bail of 68 million rubles, or at least allow him to divert the film “Summer” about Viktor Tsoi (“There are only five shooting days left”), as well as increase the time of daily walks-if Serebrennikov still remains under house arrest. He also noticed that the investigator Lavrov completely unexpectedly presented new materials, although lawyers "were preparing for a completely different process."

Maslyaeva, speaking to the judge, only complained that the lawyers of her former colleagues "say all sorts of nasty things about her." Karpov did not even listen to her.

At about ten o’clock in the evening, the judge went to the deliberation room. Returning in forty minutes, he began to read his decision monotonously - all defense petitions were rejected, the investigator’s request was satisfied. Serebrennikov, Itin and Maslyaev will remain under house arrest until January 19, Malobrodsky will spend all this time in jail.
