Kirill Shulika: “Nobody needs these women”

“I will probably never understand why Harvey Weinstein and his actresses evoke more hatred and sympathy, respectively, than a huge number of women in Muslim countries,” the politician and publicist writes on his Facebook page.

“Okay, they wear a burqa and a burkini, but they still get married at the age of 12, moreover, forcedly than voluntarily. I’m not talking about all sorts of operations, which in the 21st century are embarrassing to think about, but they are done nonetheless.

And there is simply a huge amount of this savagery. These women are unknown and no one needs them, unlike Hollywood stars. And they cannot defend themselves in any way, unlike Hollywood stars, they will simply be killed right away. They won't get kicked out of the film industry! No, they’ll just kill you, and then they won’t even sit down.

This whole fight against harassment in prosperous parts of the world is probably an important and even necessary thing. And this doesn’t even apply to the Weinstein story, I’m talking about the principle. Hollywood stars or any citizen of the USA, Europe and even Russia (with the exception of some regions) have significantly more methods of protection, including self-defense, than women who can be killed for removing a headscarf.

This is something we must not forget."
