Armenian entrepreneur Ayrapetyan died in the Mordovian colony

In July 2014, Ayrapetyan was arrested in a criminal case on the illegal sale of shares of the Bashneft oil company AFK systems . The investigation believed that the shares were bought at a deliberately low price - with a discount of $ 500 million. In the framework of this case, billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov, chairman of the Board of Directors of the AFK Sistema, and the son of the ex-president of Bashkiria, Ural Rakhimov, was put on the wanted list was placed under house arrest.

In October 2014, Ayrapetyan was released under house arrest . It was reported that he collaborated with the investigation and gave the investigation detailed testimonies, but refused to admit guilt.

On January 14, 2016, the criminal case against Yevtushenkov was terminated due to the lack of corpus delicti. However, Ayrapetyan was charged with a new charge under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale). In 2016, the Zamoskvoretsky court found Ayrapetyan guilty of embezzlement of 700 thousand dollars. The court and the investigation established that the businessman took this amount from the mother of the former Senator Bashkiria Igor Izmestiev for assistance in softening the sentence to her son, convicted of life sentence. It was noted that the businessman could not affect the court decision.
