Sobchak: if Navalny is registered, I am ready to discuss with him the withdrawal of my candidacy

Ksenia Sobchak said that if Alexei Navalny is registered as a candidate for the presidency of Russia, she is ready to "discuss with him possible options for events up to the withdrawal of her candidacy." She said this on the air of Dozhd, dedicated to her announcement of plans to participate in the elections.

“There are options that if he is registered, we will discuss this moment with him, we will talk with him, [and] I will withdraw in his favor. For me, this is an important point. I will not break the united democratic front,” she said.

“I consider him my colleague and friend. I do not oppose his position. I believe that what he does is very important for the country," Sobchak said.

On October 18, Ksenia Sobchak officially announced plans to participate in the 2018 presidential election. Rumors about this began in September, after the publication of Vedomosti about the Kremlin’s plans to make a woman, for example, Sobchak, the “sparring partner of the main candidate” Vladimir Putin in these elections.

Alexei Navalny denounced Sobchak's possible nomination, saying the Kremlin needed a "cartoon liberal candidate." He himself announced plans to run for president at the end of 2016 and has been actively campaigning ever since. The Central Election Commission stated that it would not register him because of his criminal record.
