
Vladimir Kekhman will leave the post of general director of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (Novat) on December 4. Instead, the general director will become the current acting General Director Vyacheslav Starodubtsev.
“On November 20, he returns out of vacation, tells me all the things, and on December 4 - his last working day. On December 3, we will have a gala concert with great opera performers, ”said Starodubtsev TASS .
He also said that he had already agreed with Kekhman about further cooperation in the theater. Earlier it was reported that Kekhman may become the artistic director of Novat.
Kekhman announced the decision to leave his post on July 13. Since then, the duties of the director have been fulfilled by the chief director of the theater Vyacheslav Starodubtsev , who has held this position since March 2017. The appointment of a new director was scheduled for September 1, but subsequently postponed for an indefinite period.
Vladimir Kekhman was appointed director in March 2015, after the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation fired the former director, Boris Mezdrich, in connection withthe scandal around the production of the opera Tangayer . In September 2015, Dmitry Yurovsky became the chief conductor of Novat.
PS in an interview with NGS.NOSTI, Vladimir Kekhman said that after December 4, he would continue to work at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater as artistic director.
