MOT: "The word is karmically returns to the performer"

The star of the Black Star label Matvey Melnikov is one of the few rappers in Russia who praise traditional values: love for one woman, wedding and marriage, strong family ties. The 27-year-old native of Krymsk, who passed the stage school in the ballet “Todes”, began with parodies on Russian rap artists, then joined the Black Star team as a representative of hipster youth, and over the past couple of years he changed his matrimonial status and turned into a seriously-minded lyrics that writes songs (almost) only about love. On October 23, the new album of the MOT “Good Key Music” is released, on which he is trying to answer the question “Is there life after the wedding?”.

- What new listener learns about MOT, turning on the album “Good Key Music”?

- As in the previous album "inside out", on "good music music", most songs are about love. “Inside out” - about the formation of our relationship with my then girl (Maria Guraly. - Ed. ), About their development, about relations at a distance, because she lived in Kiev, and I am in Moscow. And the new album is about relationships after the wedding, at a different level. I was tortured to answer the question "Is there life after the wedding and what it is?" And he answered him with songs from the new album. In addition to love at a new level - a serious, adult and conscious - on the album there is the main character: these are keys, piano, piano.

- Why did you choose the piano?

-I decided to move away from the fashionable New Switch-Swuke-high-hakhtes and cracks, which are present in all tracks of representatives of the Western and Russian new school. In my opinion, the tracks of the current top rappers are like Migos , Travis Scott and others - differ only in the vocal of the performer, and the tools are all the same. Touring around the cities, communicating with friends, acquaintances and concert organizers, I often heard the phrase that there was now little music in Rap. The piano is the most living tool that brings bright and kind notes to any song.

- And who plays the piano on the “good music of the keys”?

- Pavel Murashov from the team of Timati. The album has two purely piano ballads that he wrote. When I wrote “good music music”, I had an internal conflict. On the one hand, I dedicate the album of the piano and sing an ode to him. On the other hand, I do not know how to play this tool. That is why I began to take the lessons of the game on the piano. Today, for example, I had a lesson. And, I hope, since I myself learned something from this album, he will motivate the audience either to engage in the lessons of the game on the piano or marry (laughs) .

- Your position is opposite to the trends dominant in the Russian rap: now in the Favor of Misoginia, the sexual exploitation of a woman. No love, marriage and good good songs. Continuous "knots, knots, knots."

- Therefore, I do not attribute this album to RAPU or even more so to the high art of piano music. I just wanted to talk about the events that occurred in my life. About what was boiling.

- How they accepted the "good music music" on the Black arts Star ?

- Basically, everyone was silent. I tried to get out at least some comments. As if I had not set an album, but a funeral march. The song ends - and silence. I say: "Will there be any comments?" In response: “Class! Super". But it was possible to say a little early!

According to my personal feelings, this is my most conscious, most melodic and most musical album. I have a song on it " Opus Magnum " . Here is the good music of the keys ”and is my Opus Magnum . I took my soul on it. And in the spring I plan a purely hip-hop album-a new-widow. It will sound in the style of the "Dallas Club of Sprayers."

- On “Good Key Music” not only songs about love, there is one about a quarrel. Do you also have quarrels?

- Certainly. They sometimes tell me that I draw in songs an idealized relationship in which everything is good and romantic. And you listen carefully to the song “Kapkkan” - not everything is fine there. By the way, they often write about the song “Kapkkan” that, they say, this is a mirror of our relations with my husband.

There is also a negative on “Good Key Music”. I specially brought such notes there, because the piano has not only white keys, there are black ones. I wanted people to understand that family life is not only a barrel of honey, but also a spoonful of tar.

- What are you doing when you and your wife quarrel?

- Thank God, our quarrels do not last more than a couple of hours in terms of duration. Life is very saturated. Even if we are in the same apartment, if someone is offended by someone and does not talk-either they call her or me. Either a TV works against the general background, and we cannot extend the silence for a long time. I would like to share events or ask what is happening. If you want, you don’t want to, you cross through your pride and ask: who called you? Or: Why are you so joyful? Or: Look, what a cool song plays. Or: Let's see the repeat of the program that was last week. Frankly, after the wedding, the quarrels became smaller.

- In the song “When the Word disappears” you mention the Old Testament name of God - Jehovah. Are you a Christian?

“I can’t beat myself in my chest and say that I am a very believer.” My parents are believers. If possible, I go to church and take communion if possible.

“When the word disappears” I call the Clot song. Initially, it existed in the form of a poem that I posted on the network. Many liked it, so I decided to develop it into a full -fledged song and cut into it religious motives to express the seriousness of my intentions. It has a lot of love in it, and it was written before the wedding, and its prejudice was the wedding. The wedding is a responsible step in the life of every person, when the souls of two people are connected in heaven and continue to live after death. It was our conscious step. When we signed, we did not flog a fever and decided that we would take a year to prepare for the wedding and the wedding. The day after the wedding, we flew to Greece. It so happened that our hotel was directly opposite Athos. I dream of getting to Athos, but has not yet matured for this. But I regarded this coincidence as a sign. The locals told us that not far from the hotel where we settled, there is a place called Meteor - the only monasteries in the world located on the rocks. They showed photos - I have never seen such beauty in my life. When I recorded “when the word disappears”, the question of where to shoot a clip for this song did not stand. A year later, we again had a vacation in Greece, and we went to the meteor to take a video. When I got there, I had the feeling that I was in another world. So everything coincided - and the song, the content, and the picture.

- When I talked with Timati, we discussed the issue of marriage. He said that this is a big problem for wealthy men: scary, and suddenly the chosen one turns out to be, as they say, Gold Digger . Therefore, now the marriage contract is the best friend of a rich man.

- I am not so rich, so I did not worry about this (laughs) .

- And if you become rich in five years?

- When you think about a marriage contract - you are not sure of your choice when you don’t think about it - I'm sure.

- Returning to the new school of rap: do you follow what is happening in it?

- I am listening to all new releases that come out. I believe that if you move away from what is happening and closing in your work, then you will stagnate and do not develop. You do not know what is happening in your market. From the latter that I liked, - Truwer's album 'And from the Jillzay group, especially the songs "Safari" and "I know what you are." I am waiting for the third album of scriptonitis - I'm sure it will be a cool album.

I can’t say that I share the sympathies to the creativity of Fais. I don't like his songs. It seems to me that the word carries a certain code that affects the one who listens to this word, and karmically returns to the performer. For such things that he speaks in his songs, in our Kuban they were very tough in the Kuban. The elders raised the younger ones.

I have a DJ in the team with whom I have been working for five years, from Ufa. When I say Feys with him, he says that he is ashamed that this guy is from Ufa. It doesn’t matter where you come from - from the south or from the north - there should be a concept of education. Another thing is if his goal is to shock the listener.

- On November 4, a large Timati show in Olympic is coming. What is the role in it?

- A week ago, I thought that I would only go to my verse in the song “Slice”. But recently he informed me that a couple of solo tracks from me. So it’s easy for me not to get rid of, but I'm only for. I think that I will give out the lyrics - I will perform a “trap” - and I will make the dance track “day and night”.

- You started like a dancer in the ballet "Todes". Continuing dancing?

- I am moving at the speeches, although this is improvisation, and not worked out numbers. Sometimes I get out into the hall to remember what it feels like to dance. It is rarely obtained - in connection with a concert schedule. But when I get out, I always buzz. Football and dancing - two classes, involved in which, I turn off my head. When you write songs, your intellectual abilities are involved by 120%. You select words, metaphors. And when I dance, I don't think about anything.

- Can you make a lower break?

- No (laughs) . Acrobatics is not mine.
