In Samara, an activist was fined for reposting BuzzFeed and Guardian articles about LGBT people
On October 18, the Kirov District Court of Samara fined activist Evdokia Romanova 50,000 rubles for reposting publications about LGBT people, including the British publication The Guardian and the American BuzzFeed. Amnesty International reported this on Wednesday. On Thursday, Open Russia wrote about this with reference to its correspondent.
The court found her guilty of “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors using the Internet” (Part 2 of Article 6.21 of the Administrative Code).
“According to the girl, they put pressure on her, saying that they would check the documents of her partner, a citizen of another country who is in Russia on a volunteer program. Romanova also claims that she was not allowed to familiarize herself with the case materials. The activist refused to testify,” writes Open Russia. Romanova intends to appeal the decision to a higher authority.
