Former Imam of the Moscow Yardi Mosque, Mahmud Velitov, who received three and a half years in the fabricated case of justification of terrorism, is transferred to the IK-10 general regime in Astrakhan, the leader of the public movement for the rights of Muslims Ali Charinsky said on Facebook.
On September 19, it became known that Velitova was sent from the Moscow pre-trial detention center-1 "sailor silence" to Vologda, where he was contained in the city pre-trial detention center-2.
Since during the investigation of Velitov for more than six months he was under house arrest, and after the sentence for almost six months has been in prison and left for more than a third of the term, Politzeck has the right to petition on parole. Velitov asked the administration of "sailor silence" to give him a characteristic for parole, but soon the imam was taken away from the capital.
The reason for the persecution of Velitov was Khutba (Friday sermon), read by him in the mosque on September 23, 2013 in memory of the Dagestan cleric in Abdullah Gappaev, who was killed in Kizlyar a week earlier, on the 16th. As stated in the case, Gappaev was in the Hizb Ut-Tahrir, and therefore Velitov, with his performance, sought "the formation of a positive image of an extremist organization."
At the same time, Khasava’s lawyer insisted that Imam did not know about Gappev’s membership in Hizb Ut-Tahrir, and in addition, the deceased belonging to this party is not confirmed by anything but information on her website.
On July 11, 2016, Velitov was detained by TSPE operatives and managed by deception in the presence of an appointed lawyer. The next day, he was sent under house arrest, from which he was released on a recognizance of a loss on February 22, 2017, at the end of the investigation. The case was conducted by the senior investigator of the Butyrsky intercourse of the capital's head of the TFR Nikita Ratnikov. Initially, it was qualified under part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public justification of terrorism using the media); Later, the prosecution was softened by imputing the clergy of part 1 of the same article (without the qualifying attribute "use of the media").
Velitov’s process was held in April of this year in the Moscow District Military Court. Imam at the hearing completely rejected guilt. On April 28, after the sentence is announced, the cleric was taken into custody in the courtroom .
On August 1, the College for the Affairs of the Supreme Court of the Supreme Court as part of Alexander Voronov, Oleg Derbilov and Alexander Zamashnyuk confirmed the verdict of Politzeku .
Velitov is 66 years old, he is a disabled person of group II, previously suffered a heart attack and a stroke. In mid -July, it was reported that the Politzek was urgently hospitalized in the medical unit of "sailor silence" with pain in the heart and numbness of the leg. Later it turned out that Imam also suffers from stones in both kidneys.
