Nine parties, a billionaire under the investigation and an anti -Islamist from Asia. The motley parliamentary elections were held in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, on October 20 and 21, the parliamentary elections took place, according to the results of which the victory won the enlightening movement of ANO. Relative successes were also achieved by EuroSceptics and pirates, and the left -wing parties, on the contrary, showed very bad results. Republic briefly retells the main results of the vote.

The movement "Promotion of dissatisfied citizens" received according to the results of the elections 78 of 200 seats in parliament. ANO is a relatively new party, founded in 2012 and only the second time participating in the parliamentary elections. ANO adheres to moderately-sloppical rhetoric in relation to the EU: he advocates reducing the dependence of Prague on Brussels, against the transfer of the Czech Republic to the euro and for a more stringent policy towards migrants. In domestic politics, the main interests of the party are positioned by the fight against corruption and a decrease in taxes.

The future Prime Minister of the Czech Republic will be the leader of ANO Andrei Babish - President Milos Zeman on Monday formally invite Babish to form the government. The 63-year-old Babish is one of the richest people in the Czech Republic, his fortune is estimated at $ 2.5 billion. Now he is under investigation-shortly before the election he was suspected of organizing the schemes of illegal receipt of one of his companies 50 million Croats ($ 2.4 million) from the EU funds.

In total, a record nine parties took place in the parliament. In previous elections in 2013, seven associations were achieved, before that for 20 years there were no more than five parties in parliament. The second place following the ANO was taken by the Center Civil Democratic Party (11.3%), the third - the Pirate Party (10.8%) for the first time in parliament.

For the first time in the Czech parliament, a party of extreme EuroSrotics took place. The movement "Freedom and direct democracy", formed in 2015, received 22 deputy seats in its first elections. The movement is headed by a 45-year-old native of Japan with Korean roots Tomio Okamur (Bloomberg wrote in his material about him that in Tokyo he was attacked by Japanese peers for his Korean origin). In the Czech Republic, it is known for extremely radical - even by the standards of European ultra -right - a position regarding immigrants and Muslims in general. So, he urged to refuse to buy Kebabs and walk pigs opposite the mosques to annoy the Muslims. Okamur said accusations of racism that he did not consider himself xenophobes, since “Islam is not a nationality or even religion, but simply an evil ideology”.

The left -wing parties showed an extremely low result. Social Democrats, who took first place and formed the government four years ago, this time took only sixth place, gaining a little more than 7% of the vote; About the same amount was received by the Communists. The Czech media already called the results the “crushing defeat” of the left. At the same time, the majority of the party’s supporters were lost immediately before the elections - back in early October according to polls, the Communists went in second place immediately after the ANO.
