Sobyanin will go to the election of the Moscow Mayor

Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that he would participate in the elections of the head of the city, which will be in September 2018. He reported this in an interview with the newspaper Vedomosti.

Sobyanin said that the mayor wants to finish the reforms in the city. His probable rivals in the elections may be the former State Duma deputy Dmitry Gudkov and the head of the Moscow Office Moscow branch Sergey Mitrokhin. As the Vedomosti resembles, the Moscow City Duma deputy Andrei Klychkov was going to go to the elections, but recently he was appointed the acting governor of the Oryol region.

The interlocutor of Vedomosti at the Moscow City Hall said that the Moscow authorities support the holding of honest, and therefore competitive emissions. But so far, according to him, it is not known whether the government of the capital will help opposition candidates with signatures.

Before an interview, the newspaper Sobyanin has never publicly announced that he would run for mayor of Moscow. In addition, Bloomberg sources called him one of the probable candidates for the post of prime minister.

Sobyanin was appointed mayor of Moscow in 2010 instead of Yuri Luzhkov, before that he was the deputy chairman of the Russian government. In the elections, the current head of Moscow participated only once - in 2013. Then Sobyanin took first place with 51% of the vote. Its main competitor, politician Alexei Navalny, received 27% of the vote.
