In Omsk, a history teacher was fined for pictures with Pikachu and Hitler

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Omsk fined history teacher Anton Zainulin, who published pictures with Pokemon Pikachu and Adolf Hitler, 2,000 rubles for publicly displaying Nazi symbols (under Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported by the information and analytical center "Sova".

Police officers found that the pictures posted by Zainulin on the social network VKontakte contained Nazi symbols.

According to the Glasnost Defense Foundation, the man posted on the social network a picture of the Pokemon Pikachu with a swastika on his helmet and a caricature of Hitler with a swastika on his sleeve, reminiscent of one of the works of Soviet graphic artists Kukryniksy.

As Sova found out, Zainulin does not sympathize with Nazi ideology.

“We consider it unlawful to be persecuted for displaying Nazi symbols in cases where it is not about Nazi propaganda. Unfortunately, Russian law imposes a ban on any display of Nazi symbols, regardless of the context,” the center said in a statement.
