The Supreme Court of Bashkortostan upheld the conviction of five members of the religious organization Tablighi Jamaat, which is recognized as extremist in Russia. In June 2017, the court sentenced them to various terms of imprisonment, finding them guilty of creating a branch of the Tablighi Jamaat religious organization in the Dyurtyulinsky, Chekmagushevsky and Ufimsky districts of Bashkiria. The men were convicted under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code - organizing the activities of an extremist organization and participating in it.

Ramizu Fashiev was sentenced to 4 years and 7 months in the general regime colony, Ilsura Makulova and Ildusa Yanbukhtina - to 2 years and 7 months in the colony-settlement, Ramila Khamidullina - to 2 years and 5 months in the colony-settlement and Zafarjon Zuvaidova - to 2 years of conditional imprisonment .

“The tasks of the Tablighists were covert propaganda of the ideology of Islamic extremism and the involvement of new members through their psychological processing, and the global goal was to establish world domination through the spread of a radical form of Islam and create a single Islamic state “World Caliphate” on the basis of regions with a traditionally Muslim population.

During the investigation, extremist literature was confiscated from the convicts, as well as other agitation and propaganda materials used by Tablighi Jamaat to recruit new members,” the FSB said in a statement.
