Writer Boris Akunin (Grigory Chkhartishvili) spoke in an interview with Dozhd , published on Thursday, October 26, about the conditions for his return to Russia.
The writer will return from exile if "the public atmosphere changes" as happened in 2011 during mass rallies. Akunin said that if the situation changes, he will "come to help." The writer added that he does not even come to Russia to visit friends, as he believes that this would be wrong. “I will see my friends, I will listen to how one of them was left without a job, and someone has nothing to live on, and someone there, thank God, I don’t have any close friends, I went there, what compromises something nasty and so on. I will listen to them, nod my head, say: “Well, you hang on here” and go back to London-Paris. Somehow it will be wrong, ”Akunin explained.
On October 5, Alexei Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, published a list of people whom the Ministry of Culture does not recommend contacting. Among them was Boris Akunin.
