Russia expanded food sanctions
The Russian government has included live pigs, pork fat and bovine fat in the list of products prohibited from being imported into Russia from countries that have imposed anti-Russian sanctions. A message about the expansion of the food embargo was published on the government website on Friday, October 27.
The new sanctions list includes six items:
- live pigs (except for purebred breeding animals);
- edible offal of cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, mules or hinnies in fresh, chilled or frozen form (except for goods for the production of pharmaceutical products);
- pork and poultry fat in fresh, chilled, frozen, salted, dried, smoked form, as well as in brine;
- pork fat (including lard) and poultry fat;
- fat of cattle, sheep or goats;
- lard stearin, lard oil, oleostearin, oleo oil and animal oil, whether or not emulsified.
The Russian government assured that the new restrictions will not affect the provision of Russia's internal needs.
