The Presnensky District Court of Moscow has extended the period of house arrest for mathematician Dmitry Bogatov, accused of inciting riots and justifying terrorism, until January 31, 2018. about it . writes TASS
The investigator motivated his request for an extension of the period of house arrest by the fact that in a criminal case, expert knowledge and additional expertise are required for an expert examination.
A representative of the Investigative Committee noted that lately Dmitry Bogatov "appears normally for interrogations and calmly testifies." But due to the fact that the mathematician had a passport, the investigation asked to extend the period of house arrest.
On October 5, during the last meeting on the extension of house arrest, it became known that the case of Bogatov was being led by Lieutenant Colonel of the Department for Combating Extremism Kirill Gennadyevich Revakov. He considers it necessary to extend the house arrest in order to “perform additional investigative actions”: one more interrogation of Bogatov and the completion of the examination. The defense has information that the experts have already completed their work.
Bogatov is accused of inciting mass riots because of the proposal to go to Red Square on April 2, 2017, which was posted by someone under the pseudonym "Ayrat Bashirov" on the SysAdmins.ru forum. The calls were sent from Bogatov's IP, but Bogatov is the exit node operator of the Tor network, which means that any user could write from his IP.
After Bogatov was charged with inciting mass riots in April, the court, contrary to the requirements of the investigation, did not take him into custody. Then two more articles were added to him - about calls to carry out terrorist activities or justify terrorism using the Internet and about preparing to organize mass riots, after which he was sent to a pre-trial detention center. However, on July 24, the mathematician was transferred from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest.
