Republic: The FSB case against Telegram is related to the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg
The Meshchansky District Court fined Telegram 800,000 rubles. due to the refusal of the messenger administrators to provide information for decrypting phone messages related to the alleged organizers of the terrorist attack in the metro of St. Petersburg, Republic reports on Tuesday, October 31 .
The publication received a request from the FSB, in which the agency asks Telegram to provide information on six phone numbers. The names of the owners of the phones are not disclosed. Republic also refers to the materials of the administrative case, according to which on July 10, secret court decisions were adopted for all six numbers, allowing to listen in on conversations and control correspondence. According to the publication, two of the six numbers are registered to the brothers Abror and Akram Azimov, who are accused of organizing the terrorist attack.
The explosion in the St. Petersburg metro thundered on April 3, 2017. 16 people were killed, more than a hundred were injured.
On October 16, the court fined Telegram 800,000 rubles. The founder of the company, Pavel Durov, said that the requirements of the special services to the administrators of the messenger violate the Russian Constitution.
