The court rejected the claim of LGBT activists against Bashkortostan: their actions could infringe on human rights

The Kirovsky District Court of Ufa did not satisfy the administrative claim of LGBT activists against the government of Bashkortostan, which refused to approve actions for the legalization of same-sex marriages in Russia. This was reported on October 31 by Idel. Pealia".

Local activists filed a lawsuit due to the fact that the government of Bashkortostan in November 2016 did not coordinate two LGBT rallies and a gay parade.

The court considered that such actions were aimed at promoting homosexuality, and "were reasonably regarded by the Government of Bashkortostan as infringing on human rights." In addition, the judge said that the events could call into question public morality:

The dissemination of one’s beliefs and preferences regarding sexual orientation and specific forms of sexual relations should not infringe on the dignity of other persons and call into question public morality in its understanding that has developed in Russian society, since otherwise it would be contrary to the fundamentals of law and order.

The court noted that all sites declared for events are located less than a hundred meters from educational institutions. Holding rallies there is prohibited by republican law. As a result, according to the court, the plaintiffs did not prove that the government's refusal was inconsistent with the law and violated their rights and interests.
