
The compensation proposal was made among amendments to the regional budget for 2017. The document is published on the Legislative website.
“Budget allocations have been increased <...> to ensure compensation payments in connection with the early termination of the powers of the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region V. Gorodetsky In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On the early termination of powers of the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, in the amount of 1.6 million rubles,” the explanatory note said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Gorodetsky on October 6. The acting governor was appointed mayor of Vologda Andrei Travnikov.
Vladimir Gorodetsky was born on July 11, 1948 in the Smolensk region. He graduated from the Bryansk Institute of Transport Engineering, in 1972 he arrived in Novosibirsk. In 1985-1989-second secretary of the Pervomaisky district committee of the party, chairman of the district executive committee, then-the first deputy chairman of the city executive committee.
Since 1991, Gorodetsky worked at the Novosibirsk cotton plant. In 1996, he returned to the city hall as the first deputy head of the city of Viktor Tolokonsky. After the election of the latter, the governor began to fulfill his duties. Since 2000, he was elected three times the mayor of Novosibirsk. January 9, 2014 Governor Vasily Yurchenko appointed him his deputy for the development of agglomeration, which was perceived as an “honorary pension” .
However, in March 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent Yurchenko in connection with the loss of confidence and appointed Gorodetsky acting head of the region. On September 14 of the same year, he won the election, gaining 64% of the vote. His closest pursuer from the LDPR, State Duma deputy Dmitry Savelyev received 18.9%.
