The head of the working group of the Federation Council commission on protecting state sovereignty and preventing interference in the internal affairs of Russia, Oleg Morozov, announced the adopted recommendation for Russian companies not to advertise on Twitter. reported this Interfax .
The group meeting took place in connection with the decision of the management of the social network to ban the placement of advertising posts in the accounts of RT (Russia Today) and Sputnik. The recommendation was adopted as a countermeasure “to the discriminatory actions of the US authorities against Russian media.”
“US government agencies and intelligence agencies are openly encroaching on freedom of speech, actually forcing individual commercial companies to participate in anti-Russian actions,” Morozov said.
He also expressed hope that the refusal of Russian players to advertise on Twitter will result in multimillion-dollar losses for the social network.
