The 4G traffic of MegaFon subscribers in 2017 grew thanks to smartphones

For incomplete 10 months, the Internet traffic of MegaFon subscribers in Siberia has grown half, and the Altai Territory became the most dynamically developing region. Novosibirsk grew by only 57%.

In a monthly volume of 4G traffic, the Krasnoyarsk Territory remains the leader in Siberia-as a result of September, the region’s subscribers were loaded through the LTE 800 data, increasing consumption by 1.5 times. And the Altai Territory demonstrated the greatest dynamics, where in 2017 the volume of traffic grew 2.5 times.

“In 2017, Megafon almost 1.5 times increased the number of LTE base stations in the Altai Territory - the 4G network was launched in all cities of the region. This inevitably affected the growth of consumption of services of high -speed mobile Internet, ”said Alexander Saltanov, technical director of the Siberian branch of MegaFon.

The second main development trend of the 4G Megafon network in Siberia is the growth of “smart” traffic. If at the beginning of 2017 smartphones accounted for 52% of the total 4G traffic, then in September, smart tubes already form 73% of traffic. In total, in a year, the 4G traffic on the smartphones of Siberian subscribers has more than doubled.

In 2017, the number of users of 4G-Smartphones in the Siberian region increased by 61%, and the Altai Territory also became the leader.
