Writer Vladimir Makanin died on November 2 at the age of 81, according to the Eksmo publishing house . The funeral will take place on November 3 at the cemetery of the village of Krasny, Rostov Region, where the writer lived.
Vladimir Makanin published his first novel, Direct Line, in 1965. In 1971, his story "Fatherless" was published. Subsequently, almost every year he published a new book. One of his most famous works is the novel Underground, or a Hero of Our Time (1999). Some of Makanin's works have been filmed. He is also the recipient of several literary and state awards.
