Disney studio called the acting composition of the film adaptation of its 1994 cartoon "King Leo". The main role of Leo Simba will be played by actor Donald Glover, who recently appeared in the film “Spider-Man: Return home”. The role of his beloved lioness Nala went to the singer Beyoncé.

Friends of the Simba of the derris Timon and Kaban Pumba will be played by Billy Aikner (American Horror History) and Seth Rogen (“Full Riding”). The role of the villain Shram will play the nominee for the Oscar Award Chvetel Edgyofor (“12 years of slavery”).

The film will be set by director John Favro, who previously adapted the "Book of the Jungle", and also shot the first two parts of the Iron Man. The premiere of the film will be held in the summer of 2019.
