Baikal ecology was damaged by 156 million rubles

The damage from objects affecting the ecology of Lake Baikal is estimated by the Prosecutor General’s Office of 156 million rubles. Only from stationary sources 747 thousand tons of pollutants are ejected into the air annually, TASS said in the department.

The audit covered 270 objects of various forms of ownership. In the Irkutsk region alone, from August 11, one thousand violations of the law and 22 illegal legal acts of regional state authorities were identified from August 11. Violations are associated with the rules of waste management, damage to land and illegal entrepreneurship. 33 criminal cases have been opened. 120 claims were sent to the courts to recover damage caused by the environment.

25 treatment facilities were checked, improper cleaning of effluents has been revealed almost everywhere. The collection and disposal of oil -containing and liquid household waste from the ships is engaged in one special ship, and the volume of such waters is more than 417 tons in navigation. None of the 30 ports and berths are equipped with collection points.

Earlier, mass deaths were reported on the shores of Lake Baikal. One of the probable causes of what happened is the pollution of the lake.
