Ivan Zhdanov, a lawyer for Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, promised that the court would present “exhaustive evidence of how city administrations across the country act in an organized, synchronized manner and under explicit instructions from Moscow.” He says that the volume of the statement of claim is almost 800 sheets.

Navalny’s claims against Putin are related to the fact that, according to the oppositionist, local authorities throughout Russia refuse to coordinate meetings of the head of the FBK with his supporters.

Earlier on November 3, the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a press release in which it claims that in several cities the authorities approved events, but they did not take place: Navalny did not come to them. “The organizers do not bother to inform themselves in advance about the cancellation of the event or do it at the last moment,” the department said in a statement.

The head of Navalny’s federal headquarters, Leonid Volkov, in a comment to Mediazona, called the information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs a lie. He suggested that the message from the Ministry of Internal Affairs appeared due to the filing of a lawsuit, and also after Putin was asked at a meeting of the Human Rights Council why Navalny’s supporters were denied approval for events.

By law, we can refuse at any time, even a minute before the end of the event. And we really, it’s true, keep these notifications until the last moment in case something goes wrong for us to go to Yuzhnoye Butovo at least at 8 a.m.,” he said. “Because of this, we are forced to submit 200 notifications every week, and even hold on to every hellish site and not cancel them.
