In Kaliningrad, the court sent the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “New Wheels” Igor Rudnikov to pre-trial detention center

The Central District Court of Kaliningrad sent the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “New Wheels” Igor Rudnikov, accused of extortion (Article 163 of the Criminal Code), to a pre-trial detention center for two months, reports . Klops.Ru

As the publication notes, Rudnikov is accused of extorting 3 million rubles from the head of the Investigative Committee for the Kaliningrad Region, Viktor Ledenev, along with the also arrested ex-deputy plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in the Northwestern Federal District, Alexander Datsyshin. According to the investigation, for this Rudnikov promised to stop publishing “information discrediting him (Ledeneva - MZ)” in the newspaper “New Wheels”.

As noted the Kaliningrad publication Vesti , the newspaper had already published materials about the property of the head of the regional department of the insurance company, Yuri Ledenev, the notes said that Ledenev could not afford to buy a house for 80 million rubles. Rudnikov demanded that the head of the local investigative committee explain the origin of the money for the property.

Igor Rudnikov himself, who also holds the post of deputy of the Kaliningrad Regional Duma, has already accused Ledenev of provocation. “General Ledenev promised yesterday to Igor Petrovich to hand over all the materials of the case related to the mastermind of the crime, the attempt on his life. And materials on those individuals who are obstructing the investigation. Instead of the case materials, riot police were deployed. As far as I heard, the envelope with the money was in the package that contained the file that Ledenev promised to hand over, which would reveal the veil of secrecy that now stands behind the assassination attempt on Igor Petrovich,” said Rudnikov’s assistant Yuri Grozmani.

In March 2016, Igor Rudnikov became the victim of an assassination attempt; he was stabbed several times by former police officer Alexei Kashirin. As of November 2017, the second trial in Kashirin’s case is coming to an end; on November 2, he was supposed to give his last word.

The deputy names the head of the administration of the Svetlogorsk district, Alexander Kovalsky, as the mastermind of the murder, but he was not brought to criminal responsibility for the incident with Rudnikov. On October 30, the Investigative Committee opened a case of attempted murder of Kovalsky.
