Two Siberians became prize-winners of the All-Russian competition “Thank you to the Internet 2017!”

Awarding the winners of the Third All-Russian Contest "Thanks to the Internet 2017!" was held in Moscow at RIW 2017. The competition was organized by the developers of the Internet ABC program, PJSC Rostelecom and the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation for Internet users of retirement and pre-retirement age, as well as disabled pensioners who have completed computer literacy courses.

The winners were determined by a competition committee, which included representatives of PJSC Rostelecom, the Pension Fund of Russia, the Ministry of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Russian Association for Electronic Communications and the Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies.

The competition received more than 3,000 applications from 76 regions. Among the contestants 85.7% are women and 14.3% are men. The age limits of the potential audience of the ABC of the Internet project, judging by the competition statistics for three years, are expanding from 50 to 100 years and more. So, the record of 2017 was the participation in the competition of Nadezhda Myagkikh from Bratsk, Irkutsk region, which is already 101 years old. Four more participants are over 90 years old.

69% of the competition entries came from pensioners who were trained in specialized courses, 31% studied on their own, including through the ABCs of the Internet program. In 2015, the ratio for this indicator was 85.3% and 15.7%, respectively.

76% of entries came from residents of medium and small towns, as well as from rural areas, which indicates a fairly high level of Internet penetration. 8% of the contest participants are now teachers themselves and teach computer literacy to pensioners.

The winners were determined in five nominations of the competition. "Portal gosuslugi.ru: my experience", "My Internet achievements", "Internet entrepreneur, Internet employer" "Internet local historian" and Internet Traveler. In two of them, Siberians were among the winners. 59-year-old Ekaterina Istomina from the city of Minusinsk (Krasnoyarsk Territory) took second place in the nomination "My Internet Achievements". In the nomination "Internet-local historian" second place went to another Siberian - 52-year-old Anfisa Gabdulkhaevna Akimbetova from the city of Prokopievsk, Kemerovo region.

According to the results of the competition, a rating of the activity of regions in teaching computer literacy to older citizens was also compiled. The Republic of Tatarstan became the winner in the nomination "The most active region" for the second year in a row, from where 464 works were received, which is 16.7% of all works sent to the competition.

The top 10 active regions in 2017 included: Krasnoyarsk Territory — 145 participants (5.24%); Ulyanovsk region - 138 participants (4.99%); Voronezh region - 132 participants (4.77%); Irkutsk region - 131 participants (4.74%); Kurgan region - 107 participants (3.87%); Kemerovo region — 105 participants (3.80%); Moscow region — 100 participants (3.62%); Rostov region - 94 participants (3.40%); Tyumen region - 86 participants (3.11%).
