
The Central District Court of Kaliningrad arrested before January 1, 2018 the deputy of the Kaliningrad Regional Duma, the chief editor of the new wheels of Igor Rudnikov on charges of extortion. This was reported by the publication "New Calmingrad".
The court also sent under house arrest another person involved in the case, the former deputy envoy of the President of Russia in the North-Western Federal District Alexander Datsyshin.
According to investigators, Rudnikov extorted 50 thousand dollars from the head of the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Viktor Ledenev. In return, the editor -in -chief promised to stop publishing information that “defeated” Ledenev. The head of the Kaliningrad TFR allegedly transferred the money to Datsyshin, and he, in turn, gave it to Rudnikov.
In the "New Wheels" materials about the property of Ledenev were published. They said that the head of the Directorate of the TFR could not afford to buy a house for 80 million rubles. Rudnikov demanded that Ledenev explain the origin of the money for real estate.
On Friday, the international non -governmental organization "Committee for Protection of Journalists" (CPJ) called for the release of Rudnikov. “We urge the Russian authorities to immediately release Igor Rudnikov and remove all the accusations from him,” said Nina Ognyanova, coordinator of CPJ programs in Europe and Central Asia. According to her, the authorities should also investigate Rudnikov’s complaints about beating during the detention and bring guilty to justice.
In the morning, on Wednesday, Rudnikov called the editorial office and warned about the possibility of provocations. Soon the deputy was detained near the house where his mother lives. Then Rudnikov was brought to the editorial office of the "new wheels", where the security forces, including the FSB officers,conducted a six -hour search .
During the detention, the security forces stabbed Rudnikov into handcuffs and beat. According to his assistant Yuri Grozyan, the deputy hit the head several times and damaged his hand. During the search, the mines lost consciousness. Ambulance doctors hospitalized him. However, then Rudnikov from the hospital was taken to the UFSB building.
On Thursday, the head of the region Anton Alikhanov said that the case was initiated against Rudnikov under Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code (extortion on an especially large scale, from 7 to 15 years in prison). According to the governor, under the control of the head of the Investigative Committee of Alexander Bastrykin and will be investigated in Moscow.
Gronzin called the incident a provocation. According to him, the money was in a folder with the case file about the attempt on a deputy in March 2016. According to Grony, Rudnikov agreed on their transfer with Ledenev and received a folder from his hands.
