On November 1, at 12.30, in the Sushi cafe opposite the editorial office of the New Wheel, the head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kaliningrad Region Viktor Ledenev handed the newspaper Svetlana Berezovskaya a transparent file-file, in which some papers were visible to the lumen. Immediately after this, Berezovskaya was detained by the UFSB officers, and 50 thousand dollars were discovered in the file between the documents. The detainees allowed Berezovskaya to make a call to Rudnikov.
Rudnikov, who at that time was at home after the medical procedures regularly passing on them (the consequences of the attempt), was not ready for such a turn of events, but used 1 hour and 20 minutes, which passed between the bell of Berezovskaya and the detention of himself to make a number of calls.
First of all, he called Ledenev and asked what this means. The head of the investigative department, who at that moment in a cafe opposite Berezovskaya, lied that he himself was allegedly detained when transferring money to her:
- I fulfilled your requirement
- What is the requirement? - asked Rudnikov.
- I handed the documents.
- And for this you were detained?!
- No, I put another 50 thousand dollars in the folder.
“This is a provocation,” said Rudnikov (the record will certainly be in the criminal case), “I did not ask you any money.”

Perhaps allowing Berezovskaya to call Rudnikov, the investigator expected that he would try to hide (to catch him right away). I also advised him to leave “fishing”, not yet owning the situation, since Rudnikov also called me at about 13 hours on November 1 (the decoding of this conversation should also be in business). But he acted more prudently, staying at home and making several more calls to the editor and other journalists.
About 14 hours, some people in civilian clothes and employees in the form of FSB stripes began to “evacuate” the apartment building, where they live, allegedly on a call about the laid bomb (there were several such calls on this day, and the city of Kaliningrad was half -paralyzed). All the residents of the house were asked to urgently leave the apartments, and Rudnikov was detained on the stairs, handcuffed from behind, in this form, with the “evacuated” neighbors, they took them into the yard, put in the car. The handcuffs were removed from him before the VGTRK RUDNIKOV chambers on the stairs to the editorial office of the “new wheels” turned out to be on time. Another group of investigators and employees of the Federal Security Service of FSB had been pounding for some time at the editorial door, because of which the journalists asked to wait for the editorial lawyers to come.
The search, slyly named in the resolution by the "examination", was like for several hours. The operatives who conducted him (under the leadership of the senior operative of the Federal Security Service of the FSB K. M. Takhtov) were interested in the documents of the editorial office, as well as the currency found in personal safe in the Rudnikov’s office. It was these, and not the dollars from the transferred Berezovskaya folder, were shown the next day in the plot of “Vesti”, dedicated to the detention of Rudnikov. At that time, Berezovskaya was taken away from the Sushi cafe to the ambulance, but then they released home: she testified in the presence of a lawyer, she had nothing to hide.
Meanwhile, Rudnikov, who managed to tell his colleagues that the detainees were beaten and harshly put on him on the road, and then the handcuffs were removed, at the end of the search also became bad. In 1998, he broke his head, and in March 2016 he received several stabs strokes
(Rudnikov’s biography is described in detail in No. 57 of Novaya of May 31, and the story of the 2016 attack in No. 65 of June 21).
Wheel journalists called an ambulance, which, despite the objections of the UFSB officers, took Rudnikov to the regional hospital, from where he was hospitalized after examination and X -ray to the ambulance hospital. There he had bruises, including the heads, and then gypsum was imposed on a damaged left hand.
At about 2 a.m. on November 2, the UFSB officers, despite the objections of the doctors, took Rudnikov from the gurney in the hospital and drove in his underpants and socks to his house to take a search at the place of residence. At home, he was allowed to put on a sweater and slippers, and at 6 in the morning he was taken to the UFSB building on Gendel Street (former Gestapo), where he appeared in this form before the investigator of the SUC of the RF IC Koshelev. Soon, lawyer Oleg Vyshinsky also arrived here, who had not yet known Rudnikov and first accepted the figure without his pants for the homeless, and Rudnikov gave detailed testimony.
Previously, Rudnikov participated many times in various procedural procedures and was even contained in a pre -trial detention center (and then was justified by the court in 2007 - see biography) and each time did this law -abiding and voluntarily. And this time, the investigator, as the lawyer Vyshinsky emphasized at the trial, had no reason for his so rude and illegal detention.
But this is only a procedure, and then more.
My advice by telephone Rudnikov (probably stupid) - to hide for a while before I arrived in Kaliningrad - was caused by a simple circumstance: it was clear that he would be “closed”, but it was necessary that he managed to tell as much detail as possible. Rudnikov acted more reasonably, and it was surprising to tell the details, as surprisingly, he was allowed by the chairman of the Central District Court of Kaliningrad Sergey Kotyshevsky, who personally examined the investigation of the extent of the restoration of Rudnikov in the afternoon of November 3.
The meeting room turned out to be in advance by cadets of the school of border guards, but also all those who wished to be present in the amount of at least 20 people were also allowed to be present, while audio and almost completely video recording and photography were allowed.

The judge rejected the withdrawal, declared by the defense of the investigator Koshelev on the grounds that before he moved to Moscow to the Main Investigative Department of the RF IC, he worked for several years in Kaliningrad under the leadership of General Ledenev - the victim in the case of "extortion".
The victim Ledenev at the meeting did not appear, preferring, probably, to look at the lake from the window of the mansion, in the possession of which he was exposed by the Rudnikovsky “new wheels” (see also No. 82 of “New” dated July 31 of the city). And in vain: here he could explain a lot or try to refute, since the judge did not interfere with the lawyer and Rudnikov talk about the circumstances concerning the essence of the case.
This is what the whole picture looks like on the basis of documents in the case of the suppression that the judge announced, from the testimony of Rudnikov, and partly from what I know and what indirectly participated in.
After in March 2016, Rudnikov was attacked with a knife at the exit from the Solyanka cafe, the case of this (initially excited at all under the article on hooliganism and only then re -qualified as an attempt on his murder) was investigated in improperly. One of Alexei Kashirin, and co-executors who flew to the crime from St. Petersburg, as well as their well-known accomplices in Kaliningrad, remained outside the scope of this case (see more details in No. 32 of the New ”dated March 28 by March 28), were in the bench of the defendants in the same Central District Court.

On June 8, 2017, Judge Aliyeva produced an outrageous sentence by appointing Kashirin 1.5 years in prison for inflicting bodily harm to Rudnikov, but this sentence was canceled by the Kaliningrad Regional Court, and at present another judge of the same court had already left for a new sentence.
From the very beginning, Rudnikov called the customer of the assassination the head of the administration of the Svetlogorsk district Alexander Kovalsky, and the collapse of the case indirectly associated the fact that the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation of the Russian Federation for the Kaliningrad region Ledenev, which was transferred here from Chechnya in 2013, received a mansion on the shore of the Upper Lake in the most elite district of the upper lake for a sample cost of 150 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 to 200 and 200 million rubles.

The publication about this house in the “new wheels” in the spring, and then in “New” in July 2017 (No. 82), apparently, caused a serious reaction. A special commission of the IC of the Russian Federation came to Kaliningrad for the audit, whose members met with Rudnikov and even confirmed the fact of using the house of Ledenev's house. However, the commission, as it became known to Rudnikov, gave an official conclusion about the absence of any offenses in the actions of the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, although the leadership of the informal leadership may continue to demand an explanation.
At the end of the summer, Ledenev through an intermediary (a little later about him) asked Rudnikov about a meeting at which an agreement was reached: Rudnikov stops writing about the mansion, and Ledenev would do everything depending on him to re -qualify the attack on him in Art. 277 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (an encroachment on the life of a state or public figure) for proper investigation and punishment of all participants, including organizers and customer. In September, Ledenev told Rudnikov that he sent a petition to the regional prosecutor’s office to retraining the case at Art. 277 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and about its further direction in the jurisdiction of the FSB bodies (Rudnikov saw this petition, but did not receive a copy).

The qualifications of cases of attacks on journalists (the last such case took place on Echo of Moscow with Tatyana Fengelgauer) under Art. 277 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is a very fundamental issue for us and in relation to the Rudnikov’s case, the “new”, the Human Rights Council and the Union of Journalists of Russia insisted on this. Therefore, I was also aware of Rudnikov’s agreements, and on September 20, while in Kaliningrad in other cases, on the instructions of the chairman of the HRC Fedotov, I met with the federal inspector for the Kaliningrad region Sergey Eliseev, who, for his part, promised to support the retraining application to the prosecutor's office.
On October 30, Ledenev told Rudnikov that the regional prosecutor’s office was refused re -qualification (although it was quite difficult to imagine that such a question was not previously agreed between the prosecutor's office and the UK). Rudnikov asked if he could get a petition of Ledenev and this answer from the prosecutor's office to appeal. On October 31, at the suggestion of Ledenev, they met in the Sushi cafe opposite the editorial office of the “new wheels”, but Ledenev for some reason did not bring these documents and promised to transfer them only the next day, November 1, in the area of the dinner. Rudnikov warned that he himself would not be able to get a package, so at that time after attacks not it is necessarily undergoing medical procedures, and will ask you to do this to an employee of the editorial office Svetlana Berezovskaya.
Otherwise, the objective picture of “transfer of 50 thousand dollars to the extortionist” is already known to us, including from the program “Vesti of the Week”, and we can supplement it only by the fact that,
Having hooked at the table to the diner Berezovskaya, the general ordered green tea for himself, and then handed over and handed over the folder with a special powder.
“Consent to participate in an operational experiment” General Ledenev, as it became clear from the documents announced on November 3 by the Judge Kotyshevsky, signed in the FSB in the Kaliningrad region on September 18. That is, all this time, Ledenev, under the guise of Rudnikov’s transfer of documents on retraining, provoked him to receive money allegedly for extortion - while all their conversations in personal meetings and by telephone were certainly recorded.
But only on November 1, simultaneously with the detention of Rudnikov in Kaliningrad, it became known that in the “Operational Experiment”, Ledenev also pulled a businessman, and in the past, also Deputy Plenipotentiary of the President in the North-Western Federal District Alexander Datsin, who was detained on November 1 a little earlier Rudnikov as an intermediary in extortion. He “partially pleaded guilty”, and on November 3, the court, unlike Rudnikov, limited himself to Datsin’s measure of restraint in the form of house arrest.
As it is clear from the documents announced in the open court in the case of the extent of the suppression, it was Ledenev who himself asked Datsyshin about mediation, and he organized their meeting with Rudnikov. The “wiretaps” of negotiations between Ledenev and Datsyshin in court, chaired by the judge of Kotyshevsky, were not announced, but it is possible that there is something about money in those records. But with a probability of 100 percent, we can argue that the question of money was not raised in the negotiations between Ledenev and Rudnikov - it was only about documents, while Rudnikov every time tried to clarify which ones.
From the declassified materials of the “Operational Experiment”, we can conclude that Rudnikov’s awareness of the money about money is the only evidence of Lynev’s testimony:
During a conversation in his office in the investigation department, he allegedly wrote on a torn calendar for September 18: “50 thousand USD,” and Rudnikov allegedly nodded in response.
Judge Kotyshevsky did not dare to refuse the investigator of the RF IC (and in fact the Federal Security Service in the Kaliningrad Region) in the petition for the imprisonment of Rudnikov to custody before January 1, 2018, but the fact that he did not interrupt him and the defender and allowed them to tell all about the circumstances of the case on the merits, in itself, already says much. The lawyer Vyshinsky entered with a 20-minute very convincing speech, and turning not to the judge, but to journalists (and the cadets of the border guards who dozed by this time) in the hall. He sharply politicized the Rudnikov case, drawing attention to the fact that his client is the editor and owner of the last independent newspaper and deputy of the regional Duma in Kaliningrad, for which tens of thousands of voters voted in September 2016 for the last time in September 2016.

Meanwhile, the figure of Alexander Datsyshin, who formally left a political career 6 years ago, and here, as it were, “technically”, it would be more serious in its real weight: he is a business comrade Ilya Klebanov, a friend of Alexander Yaroshuk, the mayor of Kaliningrad, often met with Patriarch Kirill, while Metropolitan Smolensky and Kaliningra. Local elites are still shocked after what happened to him.
Next, we will have to express a number of assumptions, which, however, by most journalists and experts in Kaliningrad.
The “operational experiment”, directed against Rudnikov, in which the role of the provocateur and the “live bait” was played by the head of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Ledenev, failed: Rudnikov never touched the money, and others, in any case, the evidence of his awareness in the case in the case.
What forced the organizers of the “experiment” so much, it is possible to guess: it can be the anger of the chairman of the RF IC, and an early arrival of the brigade of Moscow investigators and special forces in Kaliningrad, and perhaps an amazing incident with the head of the administration of Svetlogorsk Kovalsky, who announced that it was shot at it (the criminal case was immediately instituted to attempt on its murder), but through the murder), but through the murder), but through the murder), but through it) For two days it turned out that the injury was received in a drunken form in his garden, and already on the 28th he freed his post of his own free will.
The haste could have been connected with the desire of Kashirin - the defendant in the case of an attack on Rudnikov - to tell about the accomplices before removing the court for the sentence (so far he refused to testify). After the detention of Rudnikov, Kashirin did not say anything in his last word (the new sentence will be announced to him on November 9).

Be that as it may, we will continue to follow the case of an attack on Igor Rudnikov, still demanding his retraining at Art. 277 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and now also for his own business "On extortion". Rudnikov is a hardened fighter, a pre -trial detention center will not break him, and we (journalists) do not believe his guilt for a minute.
