Members of the Catalonia Zheeneralite surrendered to the Belgian police

The President of Catalonia Carles Puchdemon and four other members of Zheeneralitat, who also left for Belgium, surrendered to the police of this country. Such information is transmitted by Reuters. At 9:17 local time (11:17 Moscow time), Catalan leaders were taken into custody.

On Sunday, after lunch, the Belgian judge must hold a hearing at the request of the arrest of Puchdemon and his colleagues. Requests were sent by Madrid to the Belgian prosecutor's office on November 3. Decisions on them are expected on Monday morning.

If the requests satisfies, the decisions will enter a higher court, which will have to confirm them within 15 days. It is noted that members of the Zeneralitat can apply for an appeal at different stages of the process, thereby pulling it for several weeks.

Madrid accuses Puchdemona and his colleagues of rebellion, incitement to rebellion, embezzlement of state funds, disobedience of legal power and violation of obligations. These accusations are made in connection with the Catalan leadership of the referendum on the separation of the region from Spain and the subsequent proclamation of its independence.

The seven other members of the Zeneralitat remaining in Catalonia, including the vice president, the head of the regional government Uril Roghinkuras, as well as two more who left for Belgium, but then returned to their homeland on Thursday were arrested on the same accusations by the National Judicial Collegium of Spain. At the same time, for one of the accused - Santi Willa - it was possible to release 50 thousand euros, since he resigned before the proclamation of the independence of Catalonia and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.

Also, the accusations are put forward to the speaker of the parliament Karme Forkadel and five more deputies. The hearings on their arrest were postponed until November 9 after applications submitted by deputies to provide the time for preparation for protection. At the same time, before the hearing, all six are placed under police supervision.

The declaration of independence of Catalonia was adopted by parliament on October 27. 70 deputies voted for, against - 10, two abstained, 53 boycotted voting. Immediately after this, the government in Madrid from the sanction of the Senate of Spain in accordance with Article 155 of the Constitution of the country dismissed the Catalan parliament and Zeneralitat .
