A court in Belgium has decided to leave at large the dismissed head of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and four ex-ministers of the region, reports El Pais . However, they cannot leave Belgian territory.
Puigdemont and his associates surrendered to the Belgian police on the morning of 5 November. Earlier, a Spanish court issued a warrant for their arrest and sent it to the Belgian prosecutor's office, where Puigdemont is now.
In Spain, former members of the government of Catalonia, after the declaration of independence of the region, are accused of organizing a rebellion, disobeying the authorities, embezzlement of public funds and abuse of office.
