The mother of a disabled miner, Vera Shikhova, was detained on Manezhnaya Square

Vera Shikhova, the mother of a disabled miner, was detained on Manezhnaya Square in Moscow. This was reported to OVD-Info by Alexander Zimbovsky.

The police motivated the detention by a complaint from the organizers of a festive musical concert, which is taking place today at Manezhnaya.

Shikhova was taken to the Kitay-Gorod police department.

UPD: Vera Shikhova was released without a protocol. This was reported to OVD-Info by Alexander Zimbovsky.

  • Vera Shikhova has been traveling to Moscow for five years and holding solo pickets demanding that her son Alexander be given a disability group and social benefits. The son of Vera Shikhova in 2010 was seriously injured at the Ziminka mine in the city of Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo Region, but the company's management refuses to admit that Alexander was injured at work. Shikhova is regularly detained by the police: the last detention was on September 25.
